Happy 1st Birthday, Shark Bait

Jul 13, 2016

Happy, happy birthday my sweet Shark Bait!

I've begged and pleaded for this day to not arrive, yet here we are, celebrating your first birthday. It has gone by in a blur. The last week of being pregnant with you dragged on forever, but the first year of your life has gone by in the blink of an eye. It hardly seems fair!

You are such a calm, sweet little guy. You spend 99 percent of your time happy and smiling. People often comment on how laid back and happy you are. We tell them you have no choice... with three rowdy older siblings, you have to go with the flow! Most people who know you have never heard you cry or fuss. It does happen from time to time, most often when you are teething. The rest of the time you grin and laugh and your bright blue eyes sparkle. You are such a joyful little boy.

You are a big fan of your older siblings. You scoot around the house on your bum at full speed, following them as they run around and play. They think the world of you and you think the world of them. They love to play with you and read to you and make you laugh. You also love our puppy Kevin. She is only a few days younger than you and the two of you are becoming best of friends. If you can't find your siblings, you happily chase Kevin around the house.

Your favourite thing to do is sleep. Sometimes I think you sleep more than you should. You take 2-3 naps a day, often for 2 or more hours at a time. You still don't make it straight through the night, but you sleep in long enough increments that we really can't complain. After sleeping, eating is next on your list of priorities. You aren't a very big little guy, but you sure can pack away the food. For breakfast this morning you ate three waffles and for dinner you had a piece of fish, a good sized helping of rice, corn on the cob and finished off your meal by eating an entire ice cream cupcake. You love food and eat as much of it as you can get your hands on.

We love you so much and we are so glad you are a part of our family. You bring so much joy to our home. Having you in our family is like having a little piece of heaven with us all the time.

We love you, Shark Bait, always and forever, lots and lots and lots.

Love Always,
Mommy & Daddy
